Site Museum Competition. Tulum, Mexico, 2006. Honorary mention.
The brief for a site museum in Tulum forbid locating the new structure within the site’s walls. We thought a sunken glass box could provide a unique vantage point of the site while doubling as a pier. As a playful challenge to preservationist conventions, the proposal included a retractable mechanical arm which could provide the best views of the site arguably without permanently altering it.
