San Diego Downtown Redevelopment. San Diego, U.S.A., 2010.
The site is located East of Downtown San Diego and South from Balboa Park over an aerea were seismic faultlines are present. The project bridges two conditions. From east to west, it extends the urban grid. From north to south, it strengthens the link between the park and the bay turning the fault lines into streets landscaped with bioswales for water retention. The masterplan’s irregular grid makes legible the intersecting urban and landscape conditions.
