Minimarts--Superurbanism. Mexico City, Mexico, 2006. Research grant.
By many accounts, minimarts are the single most ubiquitous urban program type in Mexico city. A change in their business model could have ripple effects throughout the entire territory they serve. The trends seem to point in the way of place making and automation. Compressing the retail program could free up space which could then instigate new public uses of private spaces: minimarts as urban living rooms.
