Bicentennial Monument Competition. Mexico City, Mexico, 2008.
With the purpose of conmemorating the centennial anniversary of the revolution and the bicentennial of its independece, the project gives up formal originality betting instead for a strong urban strategy. Reorganizing vehicular flows around the site allows to consolidate a surface comparable in size to Mexico’s Zocalo--the country’s foremost public space. Located a few hundred meters away from the Zocalo, the proposal aims to create a strong spatial connection that can also be interpreted historically.
