San Diego Urban Center Masterplan (San Diego, U.S.A., 2010)
The site is located east of Downtown San Diego and South from Balboa Park over an area where seismic fault lines are present. The project bridges two conditions. From east to west, it extends the urban grid. From north to south, it strengthens the link between the park and the bay turning the fault lines into streets landscaped with bioswales for water retention. The master plan’s irregular grid renders legible the intersecting urban and landscape conditions.
